Workshops @ Hope & Gloria

Sandra learned to sew as a child as was brought up in a creative household and has been sewing ever since. She went on to graduate with a BA(Hons) in Design over 20 years ago. Her aim is to reach community, through the workshops currently running in Hope and Gloria, in Schools and community centres. Her aim is to continue to re-introduce sewing as an essential skill for everyone and have great fun doing so!

AVAILABLE WORKSHOPS...

Sewing

The aim of these classes is to introduce you into the world of sewing or to help you refresh your sewing skills, e.g. dressmaking, soft furnishings, bag making, appliqué, patchwork and more. 

You can learn how to follow a pattern, how to make adjustments to fit your body shape, make your own patterns for specific projects and tips on how to make sewing easier and more fun. 

Projects are set according to your interest and skill level.

5 WEEK COURSE - £60 

(Wednesday: 7.00pm - 9.00pm or Friday: 10.30am - 12.30pm) 


HOW TO USE A SEWING MACHINE

This introduction teaches the basics of sewing and how to maintain your machine. The workshop can be done individually or in a group. 

If you haven’t used a sewing machine before this workshop will be beneficial prior to all the workshops. 

2 HOUR COURSE - £20

ONE TO ONE WORKSHOPS

This option is ‘tailor made’ for individuals who want specific guidance on a project, further their knowledge in a particular area, learn a new skill or who prefer to learn on their own. 

PRICE IS £15 PER HOUR

Alternation Techniques

This workshop is designed to Increase your knowledge of garment construction with each alteration which will enable you to have more comfortable fitting clothes for you and your family. 

Alterations covered will include hemming, adding darts, adjusting sleeves, necklines and waistbands, inserting or replacing a zip....the list is endless! 

You must be able to sew! You can take the 2 hour ‘How To Use Your Sewing Machine’ workshop prior to this if you need to refresh your skill. 

4 WEEK COURSE - £60

(Saturday: 10.30am - 1.30pm) 


KIDS AFTER SCHOOLS SEWING CLUB 

Learn how to sew by hand and machine. Make beautiful projects to take home. 

Materials included for beginners projects. 

4 WEEK COURSE: AGES 8 - 15 - £45

(Wednesday: 3.30 - 5.00) 


CURTAIN & BLIND MAKING

Help and advice from cutting to completion.

PARTY TIME!

We cater for kids and adults alike, any celebrations any age! Birthdays, tea parties, Choose either Sewing or Craft and take home a finished project! 

We provide the setting and the drinks. You can make your party more exciting by bringing along a cold buffett and a birthday cake to celebrate in our vintage inspired cafe! 

Cost: £10 per person

12 Kids/Adults Maximum

Need a fresh new skill taught in your school? SEWING is making a comeback! Workshops/after schools clubs available. 

 

CROCHET: 

This 1 hour workshop offers advice at any stage of your project from casting on to the finishing touches. Suitable for all abilities. 

Bring a crochet hook and wool.

KIDS CRAFT CLUB: 

Offering a variety of fun crafts and a finished masterpiece to take home! *Best suited to Primary School kids.*
